Menu Item Format: Blog - Content Category
Purpose:

The Blog - Content Category Menu Item Format adds a link that lists published items from one or multiple Content Categories in a "blog" format. The blog format displays articles as a series of short summaries of items on your site.

Details
  • Name : Enter the name of the Menu Item as you want it to appear on the menu of your site.
  • Category : Here you may select all, one or multiple categories.
  • URL : (The URL for this item will appear after Apply/Save.)
  • Parent Item : Select "Top" if you want the Menu Item to appear at the same level as your primary navigation. You can also put the Menu Item under an existing Menu Item by selecting that existing Menu Item as parent.
  • Ordering: By default, Mambo adds new items to the end of the existing Menu Items list. After saving or applying the new item, you can change its order when editing, using a pull-down menu to select the item after which the item will appear.
  • Access Level: Sets who can view this item.
  • Published: Sets whether the Menu Item is published or not. By default, new Menu Items are set to be published.

Parameters:
  • Menu Image: Allows you to set an image to appear to the left or right of the Item on themenu. The image must be placed in the /images/stories directory. Note: The 'Show Menu Items' option located in the parameters at Modules -> Site Modules -> [name-of-menu] must be set to 'Yes'.
  • Page Class Suffix: Allows you to set customized styles for this page. The suffix you type here is automatically added to the CSS classes for this page, and will have to be defined in your template's CSS stylesheet for usage.
  • Back Button: Controls whether to show or hide a "Back" text link that would appear on the bottom of the page and return the user to the previously viewed page. The pull down lets select 'Use Global' to use the parameter as defined globally through the Site->Global Configuration, 'Hide' or 'Show'.
  • Page Title: Text to display at the top of the page.
  • Page Title: Hides or shows the Page Title text (defined in the field described above).
  • # Leading: Number of items to display as leading (running the width of the display area on the page). These items will display with the introductory text shown as defined in a content item's Intro Text field.
  • # Intro: Number of items to display with the introductory text shown (as defined in a Content Item's Intro Text field) in the columns as defined hereafter (if only one column is chosen, these items will display in the same way as the #Leading Items).
  • Columns: Number of columns used to display items whose introductory text is displayed.
  • # Links: Number of items to display as linked titles, with no introductory text. These items will appear under the leading items and items with the Intro Text showing.
  • Category Order: If the page displays items from several categories, the items can be grouped by category, then by primary order (as specified in the Primary Order field, described below). In this drop-down menu, one of the following options can be selected:
    • 'No, order by primary ordering only': Arranges items only by primary order (as specified in the Primary Order field, described below), regardless of category.
    • 'Title Alphabetical': Arranges items first by category in alphabetical order, then by the primary order (as specified in the Primary Order field).
    • 'Title Reverse-Alphabetical': Arranges items first by category in reverse alphabetical order, then by the primary order (as specified in the Primary Order field).
    • 'Ordering': Arranges items first by category order as set in the Category Manager (Content ->Category Manager), then by the primary order (as specified in the Primary Order field).
  • Primary Order: This controls the order that the items will be displayed in. The setting in the Category Order field (described above) takes precedence. In this drop-down menu, one of the following options can be selected:
    • 'Default': Arranges items according to the order set for the specific category in the Content Items
    • Manager [section: Name-of-section] (Content ->Content by Section).
    • 'Oldest first': Arranges items in chronological order, with the oldest items first.
    • 'Most recent first': Arranges items in chronological order, with the newest items first.
    • 'Title Alphabetical': Arranges items by title in alphabetical order.
    • 'Title Reverse-Alphabetical': Arranges items by title in reverse alphabetical order.
    • 'Author Alphabetical': Arranges items by author in alphabetical order.
    • 'Author Reverse-Alphabetical': Arranges items by author in reverse alphabetical order.
    • 'Most Hits': Arranges items according to the number of hits, with the items with the most hits first.
    • 'Least Hits': Arranges items according to the number of hits, with the items with the least hits first.
  • Pagination: Hides, shows or sets to 'auto' the pagination of page items. The Pagination shows links to other pages on the list of items (such as << Start < Prev 1 2 Next > End >>).
  • Pagination Results: Hides or shows the Pagination Results information (the number of items to be displayed on the page, such as 'Results 1-6 of 6').
  • MOSImages: Hides or shows images displayed by the tag. These images are defined within each Content Item.
  • Description: Show/Hide the Category description.
  • Description image: Show/Hide the Category Description image.
  • Category Name: Hides or shows the name of the category to which each item belongs. If this option is turned on, each item's category name will be shown under the item's title on the home page.
  • Category Name Linkable: Enables you to make each item's category name linkable. Applies only when the Category Name option (described above) is set to 'Show.'
  • Item Title: Hides or shows the titles for items on the page.

For each of the following nine items listed below, you can use the option selected in the Global Configuration settings (Site -> Global Configuration) by selecting 'Use Global' or you can override the Global Configuration setting by selecting 'Show' or 'Hide.' Overriding the settings here for items will not affect the Global Configuration settings and will not affect the settings on the rest of the site.Linked Titles: Enables you to make item titles linked. The link will go to the item page.

  • Linked Titles: Enable the Content Items' titles to be hyperlinks to the Content Item.
  • Read More: Hides or shows the 'Read more' link that appears after the introductory text of Content Items. The link will go to the Content Item in full.
  • Item Rating: Hides or shows ratings given to home page items by your site's users.
  • Author Names: Hides or shows the names of authors of items.
  • Created Date and Time: Hides or shows the date and time the items were created.
  • Modified Date and Time: Hides or shows the date and time the items were last modified.
  • PDF Icon: Hides or shows the icon and link to the PDF version of the items.
  • Print Icon: Hides or shows the icon and link to the printer-friendly format of the items.
  • Email Icon: Hides or shows the icon and link to the page that enables users to email items to others.
Toolbar Icons:
  • Back: Return to the previous page.
  • Save: Save your changes.
  • Apply: Apply your changes to the site without saving.
  • Cancel: Cancel the present operation without saving.
