STOP PRESS!

Wanted New Pinner Association Noticeboard Administrator.

After 13 years of looking after our noticeboards, Lewis wants to lead a more restful life.  We are looking for someone to replace Lewis.

Our Noticeboards are located:-

  • Sainsbury’s entrance
  • Near M&S
  • Pinner Underground Station
  • West House – Pinner Memorial Park

At least once a week you would need to add and remove notices from our boards.  (The circular route is about 1 mile; about ½ hour per week)

This would suit someone who walks a dog or a person who just wants to get more active.

Message from our Safer Neighbourhood Team.

Dear Resident,

The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau has alerted us that fraudsters are contacting social media influencers based in the UK and abroad, offering them the opportunity to market a bogus product, service or investment opportunity.

Fraudsters will present professional and credible pitches to the social media influencers to convince them to feature the opportunity for a fee on their social media profiles in order to entice unsuspecting followers of the influencer to sign up or make a purchase.

Additionally, fraudsters are using the names of well-known public figures, implying that their opportunity or product is endorsed by them when it is not.

Protect Your Money

Apparent endorsements by celebrities, influencers or personalities does not necessarily mean that an investment, product or service is genuine.  Exercise a cautious approach to any such offer, using the same caution that you would at any other time.

If you are purchasing goods from a company you don’t know and trust, do some research first, or ask friends or family for advice before completing a purchase.

Professional-looking websites, adverts or social media posts do not guarantee that an investment opportunity or product is genuine. Criminals exploit the names of well-known brands or individuals to make them appear legitimate.

Avoid paying for goods or services by bank transfer unless you know and trust the person or company. Payments via bank transfer offer no protection if you become a victim of fraud. Instead, use your credit card or payment services such as PayPal as they offer you greater protection if you become a victim of fraud.

Kind regards,

Lee O’Brien PCSO 7562NW

Big Stardust Band

Don’t forget – this weekend the Big Stardust Band will be playing at our third concert in the Park.

The music starts at 2:30pm in the Pinner Memorial Park.

Although we have a limited number of chairs for hire, bring chairs and a picnic. If you are early, why not visit the Heath Robinson Museum?

There will be a voluntary bucket collection for the museum so bring your unwanted change.

Free car parking is available in Chapel Lane Car Park.

Harrow Steel Open This Years Concerts.

Yesterday I must have saved enough karma as despite the weather forecast not looking good. The “weather gods” were kind to us. It was dry!

Harrow Steel serenaded and dazzled us with their skill for 2 hours in Pinner Memorial Park.

Thank you to the volunteers and our audience for making this such a wonderful afternoon.

Next week it’s Fats Rollini Jazz & Blues band turn – see you there.

HS2 Tunnel Boring Machine Supply Cable Works – Update 27th July 2019

Thanks to Cllr Richard Almond, who has attended meetings with representatives from HS2 Ltd., we have been updated about the proposed works through Pinner South to install a high capacity electrical supply cable from the Farm Avenue sub-station to Rushdene Road, and hence on to West Ruislip, to provide the power for the HS2 tunnel boring machine.

The route through Pinner South:

The trial holes along the route for these works will be approximately 1 metre square and will be dug and covered over in one day each in the week beginning 11th August 2019.  In Harrow borough they will be in Farm Avenue by the sub-station, Rayners Lane at the junction with Dukes Avenue, on the bridge over the Yeading Brook in Whittington Way, half way along St. Michael’s Crescent, and in Cannonbury Avenue near the entrance to The Croft.

The main work of trenching for the cable conduits is intended to begin in January 2020.  This work will be done in 50 metre stretches and several will probably be done at the same time with each taking about four days to complete. The trench will be about 1 metre wide and 1.5 metres deep containing a plastic pipe through which 2 cables (1 a back-up) will be pulled when the entire trench is complete.

It is intended to hold drop-in sessions for representatives from HS2 Ltd to discuss these works with residents in Harrow borough, and Cannon Lane Methodist Church Hall is a possible venue for these meetings.   Further information about any meetings will be posted as soon as this is available.
