Pinner Music Festival – Victoria String Quartet

The Quartet began life in 2017 in a swimming pool, with a gala concert in aid of the historic Victoria Baths in Manchester’s Hathersage Road. Since then we have moved on from pools to perform for music societies and festivals across the UK. The day after PMF, we will make a return visit to Manchester’s Stoller Hall and later in the season we’ll be performing in the fabulous Bridgewater Hall.

They open with a charming Haydn string quartet – from a set he described as “new and special”, brimming with typical humour – and end with a sunny work by Mendelssohn, energetic and joyful, with a gorgeous slow movement. Between, we shall hear 6 of Dvorak’s 12 Cypresses, typically melodic and infused with love, and Six Fragments by Elgar, in what we believe to be their first public performance, as edited by Iain Farrington for the Elgar Complete Edition.
