PWS – The Final Chapter

We have received an email from Daniel Lester, Head of Communications at Harrow Council, with the final report on Pinner Wood School.

In case you are wondering what they are doing digging up the school field – this is to put a drainage tank in and nothing to do with the chalk mines.

The report is in two parts and can be accessed by clicking on the following links:-

Fats Rollini Jazz & Blues Band

Getting Ready for a Hot Day! – Tarun Patel

Getting ready for a hot day.

Fats Rollini Jazz & Blues Bands got people’s feet tapping as they entertained the audience in the Park.

This week most people sheltered under the trees in the shade as temperatures hit 30C. Any umbrellas being used this week was as sun shades.

See you next week for The Big Stardust Band!

Have your say on new council ward boundaries for Harrow

The Boundary Commission are starting of a 10-week public consultation on proposals for new council wards and ward boundaries for the London Borough of Harrow.

What is an electoral review?

Our electoral review will recommend new electoral arrangements for Harrow. We will propose:

  • the total number of councillors elected to the council in the future;
  • the number of wards;
  • the number of councillors representing each ward;
  • ward boundaries; and
  • the names of wards.

Our consultation will close on 8 October 2018.

After we have considered all representations made to us during this consultation, we intend to publish draft recommendations in January 2019.

We will then hold a further period of consultation on our draft recommendations. Our final recommendations are expected to be published in May 2019.

The new electoral arrangements will come into effect at the local elections in May 2022.

Whitmore School Steel Band at Pinner Memorial Park

Despite the “wrong type of weather”. Those that ventured forth into Pinner Memorial Park were treated to some wonderful music by the Whitmore School Steel Band.

The talented players bought a ray of sunshine to the park, and we were royally entertained.

Thank you to the resilient audience for coming and sitting in the rain. Hopefully the weather will be better for Fats Rollini Jazz & Blues Band next week.

See you there next Sunday.

Filming along High Street, Pinner: Thursday 26th July 7 pm – 10 pm

We have received the following notification from Harrow Council

On Thursday 26th July filming will take place on the High Street, Pinner between 7 pm and 10 pm.  A film crew will be filming a car positioned on a low loader vehicle travelling up the High Street towards Paines Lane as part of a Vauxhall car commercial.

In the interests of safety and to facilitate the filming, the Council have approved the use of Traffic Diversions during the filming period to prevent cars from travelling along the High Street.  Diversionary route signage will be in place to divert traffic around the High Street.

Stop / Go points will be positioned at the following locations; at the junction of Bridge Street and the High Street, Grange Gardens, Church Lane and Paines Lane and at the junction of Paines Close.  The film crew have been authorised to hold traffic for a maximum of 5 minutes only between 7 pm – 10 pm to allow the filming sequence to take place. Compliance with the 5 minute holds will be closely monitored by a member of Harrow Council’s Highways department.

Under Traffic Order, all bays along the High Street have been suspended between the hours of 12:00 and 23:00 on the 26th July.  As an alternative the public are advised to use the pay and display car park at Chapel Lane.  To reduce the inconvenience the film company have agreed to support any disabled car user wishing to use the disabled bays along the High Street and filming marshals will be on site from 11 am on the day to support this.

Finally, a row of 12 bays has also been suspended for filming use only in Waxwell Lane car park all day on Thursday.  The rest of the car park is available for public use.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Kind regards

Harrow Film Office, Harrow Council
