Can You Help?

Alice our roving reporter who gathers the information for Talking Shops is effectively in lock down at the moment.  We need a new person, or people, to find out what is going on in our local shops and businesses for The Villager magazine.

What does it involve?

Visiting the local independent retailers and finding out what they are doing now and their plans for the future.  Taking a couple of photo’s with their permission and writing some copy for the magazine.

There are mainly three locations that need to be covered.

  • Cannon Lane / Whittington Way
  • Central Pinner
  • Pinner Green

Are you able to help with any of these areas?

Interested?   Email:  [email protected]

Thank you

Julie

Harrow Foodbank – Trustees wanted

We have recieved a message from Chonde, Project Manager at Harrow FoodBank.

“We are looking to increase our Trustees pool, potentially to add up to 2 more Trustees, anyone interested will be interviewed by our joint Chair.  The roles would be determined based on the skills and expertise that these people can bring to the Harrow Foodbank board of Trustees.  Officially our Trustees are required to meet x6 yearly, however during the pandemic Trustee meetings have been more regular.”

If you are interested or would like more information, please email Chonde  [email protected]

Volunteer Gardeners Wanted.

Wish you had a larger garden?

We are looking to resurrect the volunteer gardening team that helps weed and deadhead flowers in the Peace Garden in Pinner Memorial Park.

We currently pay for professional gardeners to do all of the major maintenance, for example hedge trimming, and we are looking to supplement this with people who enjoy pottering in a garden.

We would ask all volunteers to bring their own secateurs, hoes and gloves.

If you are interested please email Christine at [email protected]

Thank you.

Volunteers Wanted?

If you would like to know more about the stewards role Steward’s Instructions

The concerts may not take place if there are severe weather warnings or COVID restrictions.

Doing up Bikes. Can you Help.

We have received this request for help.

Hi All, with all that’s in the news about fitness and health, we would like to help those wanting to get into cycling in the local area. We would like to run a scheme to help the community get old unused/broken bikes back in use for those that need them.

We are looking for people to donate any unused or broken bikes that may be hanging around in garages or sheds. We will then try to get them usable and give them back to the community in working condition.

So first off, we are asking for any donations – we are very near Pinner High Street/Love Lane Car Park, so if you can bring them down to us or if you are close to Pinner we can collect. We will take any bike with the exception of heavily rusted or seized up bikes.

Harrow Council are looking for volunteers to help during the current pandemic – Are you able to help? If so read on.

Dear Community Volunteer,

As the current situation develops I am writing to you to find out if you would be prepared to assist the council during this time.

We recognise that some of you would be prepared to assist us. We may ask for your help in a number of ways which could include –

  • Delivering information letters from the Council in your street
  • Providing your neighbours with details of where to go for help
  • Volunteering to deliver essential items to the vulnerable
  • Manning control centres

We recognise that some of you may not be able to assist due to being identified as at risk yourselves and would stress that we would not expect or ask that you undertake any activity that could indeed put yourself at risk.

If you are able to assist us with any of the above or if you have any suggestions of your own as to how you can help (sensible and realistic only please!) please let us know by registering on the volunteer signup link below –

Please pass this email on to any other people or organisations who may be interested in helping out in this moment of need.
