The Pinner Association
– The Voice of our Community
Have you thought about giving something back to the community that you live in? Look no further.
We are looking for new committee members, it doesn’t matter what your experience is as long as you are actively able to help.
If you wish to know more about us email:
[email protected] or [email protected].
Harrow Apollo Male Choir are looking for new members.
This choir which is now in its 77th year is in danger of folding if we can’t recruit some younger members to ensure it remains a going concern.
They currently do about 12 concerts a year in the local area. Their efforts have contributed to raising over £130k over the last 10-12 years.
Pinner Panto Committee are still looking for volunteers to help with stewarding for the evening. If you can space an hour please email [email protected] with your details.
Thanks for helping
Pinner Panto committee are looking for volunteers to help stewarding on the evening of the 29th November.
If you can only spare 1 hour that would be wonderful!. I personally look forward to stewarding each year – especially the zebra crossing duty.
If you are able to help, leave a message/comment with your name, email address and/or phone number and we will forward it to the organising committee.
I have received an email from Harrow in LEAF. This is for the annual show at Headstone Village Show on Monday 27 August.
Tombola Appeal
Do you or your friends and family have any unwanted new or “in good condition” used items that could be donated for our popular Tombola Stall?
We do need a few more items to top up the Harrow in LEAF table this year, or even donate some plants for us to sell on.
If so, please contact Diana on 020 8863 7558 to discuss delivery or collection.
The Pinner Association is in need of a new Area Leader, the link between our many Collectors and our Membership Secretary. As there are too many Collectors for one person to handle, Pinner is divided into five areas.
Not only is it an essential task – without the Area Leaders The Villager could not be delivered – but it is also an interesting task, and I can vouch for this, as I was one once. I got to know many local people, whom I may not otherwise have met, all of whom, are of course, most charming or they would not have volunteered to be Collectors in the first place!
If you are already a Collector you will be aware of your Area Leader’s existence because of the thrice-yearly visits with the magazines and the wherewithal to collect the subs. Why not move up the hierarchy and become an Area Leader?
His or her duties involve delivering the Villager magazine three times a year to the Collectors, ensuring that all the subs are eventually collected and keeping a record of the subs, which the Collectors will have paid into the Bank. (You do not have to handle the money.) Having a computer is an advantage. Also a car is really essential as distributing several hundred Villagers can be a weighty task. That said, one Area leader has trained her Collectors to collect their Villagers from her!
Volunteers should form an orderly queue outside Jill Cock’s house at any time, but possibly phoning 8868 5795 or emailing [email protected] might be easier.
In case you are wondering, it’s not to take part in the wheelbarrow race but to help with stewarding! This is for 22 April.
For health and safety reasons, they need to have approximately 16 stewards for the Wheel Barrow Race and the Pinner Rotary Club can provide about 10 of these. So they need about 6 more for the duration of the race.
Basically all they need is to be able-bodied and to be available for 25 minutes from 2:30 to 3:15 pm. Plus you will get a great view of the race.
