The Tin Can – a French War Weapon
3 November 2022 @ 20:00 - 22:00
Title – The Tin Can – a French War Weapon
Speaker – – Michael Clarke
Over 200 years ago, the tin can was invented in France, to enable the waging of total war by land and sea. Fulfilling this role for 60 years, it then infiltrated civilian life, and remains on the shelves of local shops, and in members’ cupboards today. Historians name the inventor as an Englishman; as a Frenchman in exile in Poland, and as an illustrious French Professor of Chemistry, but who is correct? As members and regular visitors will know, Michael can be relied on to be an entertaining speaker.
